Narowal Floods: Families Need Shelter, Food & Safe Water—Now

Catastrophic floods have swept through Narowal and surrounding areas, destroying homes, crops, and livelihoods. Rural Aid Pakistan teams are on the ground delivering urgent relief—learn what’s happening and how you can help today.

What’s happening in Narowal

Relentless monsoon rains and high river flows have triggered dangerous flooding across Punjab. Authorities report mass evacuations in recent days, with hundreds of thousands moved to safety as water surged through low-lying districts. In Narowal, floodwaters from the Ravi and hill torrents (nullahs Dek and Baen) have inundated villages, severed roads and bridges, and damaged power infrastructure—leaving families without shelter, food, or clean drinking water.

The situation is evolving. Pakistan’s disaster agency continues to issue daily updates as fresh inflows arrive; officials have warned of very high river levels in the days ahead. Please note figures may change as assessments continue.

Voices from the ground

Our teams are visiting affected villages, listening to families who have lost everything: homes washed away, grain stores ruined, and fields under water. Parents describe sleeping in the open and boiling unsafe water over makeshift fires. Older people and persons with disabilities face the toughest barriers to aid.

What Rural Aid Pakistan is doing

Rapid assessments: Working with community leaders to map urgent needs and access routes.

  • Emergency relief: Distributing food baskets, clean-water solutions (aqua tabs, jerry cans), hygiene kits, ORS, and basic medicines.

  • Shelter support: Tarpaulins, blankets, and floor mats for families sleeping outdoors.

  • Protection focus: Prioritizing children, women, older people, and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in targeting and distribution.

  • Local coordination: Collaborating with volunteers and authorities to ensure no family is left behind.

Narowal has also seen infrastructure damage—including washed-out roads, bridges, and even a section of railway track—complicating access and making local partnerships essential.

The need is bigger than our current resources

Nearly 250,000–300,000 people have been displaced in Punjab in recent days, with over a million affected across the region. Your support helps us reach the hardest-hit villages in Narowal.
